FAQs

When will the new studio open?

The studio opened in Newport in June 2020. We have had a short break over Christmas and COVID restrictions and will be back in action ASAP. We are expecting January 11th to be our re-open date. Please book your first consult here.

What sort of memberships and training options are available at the booty parlour?

You can find the information on our different membership options here.

Our primary services are personal training and semi-private sessions of up to 4 women at a time. We believe this is the most effective and safe way to coach strength training, and means that we can continue to place a priority on building technique and strength in our sessions.

You can read more about our style of training and why we love lifting weights on the blog.

I don’t want to lift heavy - I just want to get a bit stronger and fitter. Is the Booty Parlour for me?

Absolutely. We coach women with very different goals and levels of strength training experience. The shared goal amongst all of them is wanting to get stronger and more confident in their own bodies.

We have some women who are brand new to the gym environment, then we have runners, surfers, dancers or pilates fans who just want to complement their existing regime with a session or two of weights, mums who want to regain their old core strength and body composition, right through to the fit ex-F45ers and group-fitness women who want to take their training to the next level.

I’m brand new to strength training. Is the Booty Parlour right for me?

We will be more than happy to take you from brand new to strength training to pro now that we are opening in our studio in Newport, Sydney. Each of us started our strength training journey with no experience at one point in time. Our sessions are catered to each individual’s requirements through customised programs, and the positive and private environment means that you don’t have to feel intimidated or shy about your own experience level.

If, however, you would prefer to start with some basics at home before commencing at the gym we have our “Boss the basics” beginners strength training program available online. When you enrol, you commence your 6 week program on the following Monday.

I don’t live close enough to Newport but love what you guys do! Can I train online with you?

Absolutely! We have women training with us from interstate and from other areas of Greater Sydney. Jess is our online strength coach and will go through your initial consult as well as screen you to see if we’re a good match. You can apply for online coaching here, providing as much info as possible.

Our online coaching members receive:
- a custom designed program
- weekly check-ins to answer questions, provide technique feedback and areas to focus on
- an app with guided workouts and demonstrations
- online support from Jess throughout the week

How will I access my online strength training program?

Once you have enrolled and provided all the necessary screening information, we will be in touch with any additional questions or to confirm that you have secured a spot on the coaching team. You will receive credentials for your training program, which will be accessed through a mobile app with your email address. You will receive updates on the program weekly and can make your edits and insert weights used directly into the app for your coaches feedback.

What happens if I miss some time off training?

The earlier you communicate any changes in your routine with your coach, the better. If you are planning some time off, the program can be adjusted to account for this. If you are unwell or too busy to train, just keep your coach posted so that it doesn’t disrupt your weekly check in schedule. Days can always be wiggled around as needed, but you will always have a weekly program available to you and a dedicated weekly check in time for your coach to work on your new updates. If you need time off for vacation please give advanced notice.

Can I share my personalised program with my family members?

We highly encourage you to get your family members involved in exercise and we love seeing others get involved in strength training. Just keep in mind that your program has been carefully developed for you, based on your training and injury history, your skill and experience level, your fitness, age and preferences. Similarly, I have not screened your family members so can’t guarantee that the program fits with their goals and their bodies. I’d recommend they get screened by a personal trainer and/or allied health professional if they have any old injuries or concerns about their health and fitness.

I’m not that good with technology. Will I manage with an online coaching program?

There will be some technology requirements, as expected for an online service! We make it easy for you by doing all the hard technology work for you once you enrol. All you’ll need to get started is a phone or computer with internet access, and a phone or computer with a camera to film your workouts and for our video calls.

If you need a helping hand with getting yourself set up with your program, we can arrange your first check-in session to be a call to get you set up and ready to go. It won’t take long. You’ll need to download an app on your phone and log in to get started. You’ll also need to know how to film videos on your phone and upload them, which I can run you through. You’ll be a pro before you know it!

I’ve got some equipment at home that my partner has set up – but I don’t know what to do with it or what it’s called to be able to fill out the enrolment form.

That’s great news! I’ll be able to review it and make some sense of the equipment with you. Please write a note in the enrolment form saying “UFO” and then take photos of the equipment for me to attach to the enrolment form. As well as identifying these pieces of equipment, I’ll be able to clarify what you’ll be using them for once you have your own program planned out.

I don’t have any equipment at home and don’t have a gym membership. Can I still enrol for online coaching?

The Boss the Basics program requires little to no equipment. The first few weeks can be completed with no equipment.

All of our 1:1 online coaching programs incorporate the use of weights.

If you plan to train at home you may like to invest in some basic equipment to help you work toward your goals with strength training. If you plan to join a gym to do your training but want a program to support this, then please just add this into your enrolment notes, and once you have joined you can take some photos of the equipment available for me. I will help you with explanations of equipment if you are brand new to the gym environment. I work with many people who train at other gyms with my programming and this is absolutely fine. I will work around what equipment you have access to.

What equipment will I need to be able to enrol for online coaching?

There is no pre-requisite list of equipment however for a strength training online program you will need some weights to train with, in order to be able to progressively overload your training and continue to make progress week to week, as your program develops. We’ve created a guide on the basic essentials for training at home. Download it here. If you are training at a gym once restrictions ease down, you will be fine to commence an online coaching enrolment.

I’m brand new to strength training. Is the Booty Parlour online coaching right for me?

Not for this style of coaching, I’m afraid! Our online coaching is for people with some strength training experience and basic understanding of the movement patterns and equipment used in strength training.

However, we will be more than happy to take you from brand new to strength training to pro once we are open in our studio in Newport, Sydney. You can join our waitlist to stay in the know on studio launch news as well as to be in the first group of consultations so that we can meet you and discuss your training goals and plans.

Is there a minimum time commitment for online coaching?

We program a minimum of 4 weeks of your training plan at a time, and then make weekly adjustments and updates depending on your results for the week as well as any changes in equipment or requirements. For this reason, we’d appreciate you committing to 4 weeks, every 4 weeks.

You will pay for your program weekly and will be committing to a 4 week block at a time. If you want to wrap up your training and stop it, please given advanced notice so that we can make sure it works with the 4 week cycle.

Is there a minimum time commitment for face to face coaching at The Booty Parlour?

Similar to our online coaching program, we program a minimum of 4 weeks of your training plan at a time, and then make weekly adjustments and updates depending on your results and requirements.

For this reason, we’d appreciate you committing to 8 weeks when you first join our studio, so that you can get a taste of 2 blocks of our programming and training style. But we’re sure that after your first 4 weeks you will be so excited to commence your second block of training!

What if I have a question during the week outside of my check-in meeting?

Jess is available to respond to questions on set up, technique or exercise clarification during the week. You will have her contact info to be able to send over questions on your training sessions, or send videos of training sessions for clarification. Jess will also send you videos back where necessary or can jump on a video call with you where it’s easier.

I only did group classes before COVID-19. Is the booty Parlour online coaching right for me?

Training alone is going to feel pretty different after only doing group training, but you will find a new way to enjoy your training and achieve some new levels of self-satisfaction! We’ve got some recommendations on setting the tone of your workouts in this blog article! Because our programs are customised and design for you based on your initial screen and enrolment, Jess is able to provide you with 1:1 coaching which you may find really beneficial for targeting some of the weaknesses and strengths that are hard to pinpoint when you’ve only ever been involved in group training.
